Legal next of kin based on legal and blood relationships only, not those of emotion. If you have numerous persons of the same degree of kinship, some funeral homes and cemeteries will require that all sign for final disposition.

If you are  estranged or uncertain that one or more of your legal next of kin will follow your wishes, you can designate one individual to be in total control by completing an 'Appointment of Agent to Control Disposition.'
